Five Guys Burgers and Fries in Redmond

23 Oct

For a late night burger fix, Five Guys really delivers (not in the meaning of an actual delivery service, but in providing a great service food-wise).  For an anytime burger fix, Five Guys delivers like no other.  Since Five Guys made their presence in Redmond, we have done takeout/takeaway three times.  The first two times, The Hubby, used the website’s convenient ‘order online’ feature and picked up the greasy goods after work.  The third time around, I went along with him to order a takeout in person.  Thanks to watching many Sponge Bob episodes and his krusty burgers (yikes, see comments) krabby patties, I had burger in my mind for an entire week.  It didn’t help any that we found ourselves in Redmond for the weekend and within driving distance of Five Guys.

Here are the Ten Things I Love about Five Guys in Redmond:

  1. No nonsense burgers
  2. An option of a regular sized burger and “Little Burger” (“little” is still a sufficient size)
  3. Easy options – because my appetite is big and I like to weigh my options, I take a long time to order; the good ol’ Five Guys menu makes it easy for me
  4. Unlimited toppings and “All the Way” is free
  5. No nonsense burgers
  6. Free peanuts at their joints
  7. Love the chips, ehrr, fries
  8. A veggie sandwich option; take note that there’s no veggie burger patty involve, it really is just a “veggie sandwich” – think BLT as in bread, lettuce, and tomato
  9. Finally, an honest-to-goodness-awesome-possum burger joint in the Eastside
  10. No nonsense burgers

I didn’t mention it in my Ten Things but the store employees are friendly.  For a busy weekend lunch hour, that was a good thing to see and experience.

Redmond Saturday Market

1 May

May Day!  May Day!

Redmond Saturday Market opened today!  The sky was grey, the weather was cool, but in the market, among the producers and the crowd, the atmosphere was warm and friendly…and alpaca-y.  Even more exciting – duck eggs!  The first booth we visited was our favorite, the Sky Valley Family Farm booth.  Thereafter, we walked about, visually feasted on the sights, and supported our local producers like any good market-goers.

Duck eggs

Found at the Remond Saturday Market:  Duck eggs

From May to October, Redmond is livened up by the Saturday Farmer’s Market. And every Saturday, Ryan looks forward to iced cookies from a local baker and I look forward to the plethora of fresh produce and duck eggs. But for some strange coincidence, during the past couple of years, we always missed the opportunity to acquire duck eggs because they either become sold out early (damn it, early birds—pardon the pun) or the ducks just didn’t lay eggs for the week (damn it, fickle ducks)… or, ehr, we were out of town (oh well). But this Saturday, we procured a mix of different-sized duck eggs and they’re beautiful!

I pondered over the possibilities of what to do with them but as with everything else, simplicity works wonders. So omelette it is.
